This has been an exciting month watching years of game play and great relationships with players beginning to merge into an interesting new venture. Our game community is getting stronger with new games and GM's growing together in the Discord. And there are so many stories that come from the table that I really want to share. Everyone is so busy that they don't always come back to the Discord to read the game recaps or interact in yet another social platform. I can absolutely relate to that as I am primarily in Discord and don't see what happens outside of my gaming socials. So I decided that it was time to re-imagine these stories into written adventures that can be shared and played across tables outside of our community. And maybe find some new friends that enjoy what we do.
We started as a few friends playing weekly games online. We brought in strays that posted interest in finding a group on the socials, and we grew into a community that thrived on teaching the game and building a learning culture. We have expanded to a national convention presence and are now taking our homebrew to print. Out micro-groups work on writing workshops and world building, with a huge collaborative adventure project in its beginning phases. We provide a place to play and run games within our community and are always happy to welcome new members at any stage of their interest in the game. Yes, we even have are 101 workshops for new players that want to start their journey.
Moon Gate adventures are written for and inspired by the characters that are brought to the table each week. There are inspirations instead of dedications in the credits, and you can often see a familiar player in those notes. It isn't just the GM or the writer of an adventure that create an amazing story. It's everyone at the table and how they bring their characters to life within the setting that truly make the story come alive. And it's after these written pieces are played out that we see just how great the story really is, and how to present it for others to play in a written adventure.
Our characters set out as adventurers for many reasons, and one of my favorites is to explore the unknown. And that is where these adventures will take your characters. They will take a different approach to how they gear up at the mercantile before heading out for exploration instead of adventuring. They will step through the Moon Gate, not knowing exactly where they may end up. They can easily map a new territory or look to set up trade agreements in new cities. They could seek ancient magicks or lost lore and treasures untold. This style of play has your players donning their fedoras and whips instead of plate mail for a new approach at fantasy world exploration.
